Why You Need To Set Goals

Hello! I'm Charlotte, and I'm the founder of Blog and Beyond. I'm a slightly sarcastic 23-year-old grandma from Glasgow who loves The Sims, Hugh Laurie and programmes about airports. setting goals for 2019

Goals are great. I love goals. To be honest, I think most people are fed up me harping on about goals all the time. I used to take goal setting for granted, but since I decided to give it a whirl for myself a few years ago it’s totally changed the way I approach things.

I’m not going to tell you how to set your goals, because we’ve got a completely free five-day email course all about setting goals, so I’m just here to tell you why you need them.

Goals keep you accountable - especially when you share them. Accountability is great, because it helps DOUBLE your chances of meeting your goals and it instills your desire to work towards achieving them. We make a regular habit of sharing our goals over in the Facebook group, so why don’t you join us?

A Clear Focus

Do you have lots to do but no idea where to start? That’s where goals come in handy. Setting goals gives you a target to work towards and helps you stay on track throughout the year. Goals can be big or small, they just have to give you a destination in mind to strive towards.

Just like having a focus to work towards, setting goals will help you track your progress along the way, too. Being able to look back at those goals you've set yourself and seeing how much effort you've put in to accomplish them can be a real confidence boost. Creating a blueprint for how you’d like your year to play out comes in handy for figuring out what should be done and when, as well as showing you how far you’ve come overall.

Good goals will motivate you to grow as a person. I’m a firm believer in setting goals for all parts of my life - blog, career and personal - and these help me move forward to meet my dreams. It’s all about finding your own version of success, and working your butt off to get it.

When you start hitting goal after goal, that winning feeling can become a little bit addictive, and before you know it you're working your arse off to achieve your dreams. Goals are a great motivator, and having a clear idea of where you want to be can be a great push to get started.

Something to Celebrate

The best thing about goals? When you hit them, it’s time to celebrate. No matter how big or small your goal may be, ticking something off of that list is worth celebrating. That feeling of accomplishment is unbeatable!
