Letter from The Editor: April
I wasn’t originally going to call this an “editor’s letter”, but it made me think of The Proclaimers’ song “Letter from America”, so we’re sticking with it. It’s in my head now, and that’s it. Anyway, welcome to the very first incarnation of Blog and Beyond!
I’ll let you in on a secret, I’m absolutely terrified about releasing my baby into the world. It’s something I’ve been wanting to put together for a while now, and it wasn’t until the start of the year that I decided 2018 would be the year it came to fruition. For the past few weeks, I’ve been working on bringing this all together and battling the fear that it would flop. I’m guilty of putting a lot of pressure on myself, probably too much, and I just want Blog and Beyond to be as valuable as I hope it can be.
My original plan was to launch the site in June and spend my summer working away on it whenever I had a free moment, but then I had a bit of a “life’s too short” kind of moment and here we are. A few months earlier than planned, but sometimes things have a funny way of working out.
I have this huge vision of where I want Blog and Beyond to end up in the long term (maybe I’ll fulfil my lifelong dream of selling my own mugs?!) but for now, I’m really happy with how it’s come together. For me, Blog and Beyond is about community. I want this to be a collaborative resource for bloggers big and small, bringing together the best blogging whizzes to share their words of wisdom on anything and everything to do with blogs.
As much as I want my dreams and plans and schemes to be reality, for now, I’m just focusing on making this the very best resource it can be – and that’s not something I can do alone. I’ve been overwhelmed by the support I’ve had from the blogosphere so far and, I think you’ll agree, there have been some brilliant contributors getting involved in getting Blog and Beyond ready for launch.
So, here’s to the start of something great. Hopefully.
